Blueberry compote, iodine, charcuterie, tapenade and a slick of licorice. A taut, peppery furl across the juicy finish, lathered with refined chalky tannins.
93 POINTS - The Vintage Journal Summer Wine Guide 2023
Wonderfully complex and engaging, the bouquet shows dark berry, bay leaf, cured meat and toasted almond notes, leading to a gorgeously supple palate that's expansive and persistent. Well supported by refined texture and fine-grained tannins, finishing long and structured. * Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, January 2023 *

Mataro sourced from the parishes of Moppa, Vine Vale and Bethany, hand picked, 17% whole bunches, pressed to tank until blending and bottling, unfined and unfiltered.
95 POINTS - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion - 29th May, 2023
The Meta Shiraz fruit is carefully selected from a few vineyards with rocky or hard growing soils. This gives the fruit (and therefore the wine) a brighter, blue fruited and more tightly tannic style.
Growers: this vintage is sourced from ten different growers, across seven sub-regions in the Barossa.
95 POINTS - David Sly, Decanter, April 2024
The Nitschke Road Shiraz block was planted by my mother and father in 1968 in Bethany near the base of the Eastern Barossa Range. The vineyard is still pruned and picked by hand and the soils of loam over brown and red clays results in a wine of considerable concentration and drive.
Rich, opulent fruit is the reoccurring theme with this vineyard and it always seems to show great balance and texture year in, year out.
The Nitschke Block Shiraz was the first wine made by Jason Schwarz back in 2001.
The family Grenache block on Thiele Road in Bethany remains one of Jason’s favourite blocks. The first vintage of the Thiele Road Grenache was made by Jason Schwarz in 2002 and celebrates his love of this diverse variety. The gnarled, old vines were planted in 1941 and they produce fantastic fruit.
This Shiraz, from 400 vines planted in 1881 is Barossa history in a bottle. Hand-picked from the vineyard still managed by the sixth generation of the Schiller family, only 1,398 bottles have been produced.
First vintage produced was in 2008 by Jason. If you are looking for a back vintage to celebrate a special occasion or milestone send us an email, and we will see if we have that vintage available!
95 POINTS - Aaron Brasher , The Real Review (21st September 2024)
With only 400 bottles produced, purchases are LIMITED to 3 bottles per customer.
Why Gratitude? My parents were of a brave generation that rejected government cash offers to remove old Barossa vineyards in the 1980’s. Their determination to preserve their vines driven by an unwavering belief in their potential to produce exceptional wine has become their legacy. Not only of vineyards, but also admirable character and faith. This wine symbolises my gratitude for their resilience. The very best Shiraz of vintage.
"This special patch of fruit was handpicked off the family vineyard. There was just something that stood out to me each time I went back to sample this specific Hogshead Barrel…and I knew this would be the next addition to my Single Barrel Selection range. I allowed the wine to mature in new French oak for two years, taking on characteristics of a true Barossa Shiraz. I am excited to finally share this wine with you." Jason Schwarz.
The bottles are packaged in either single or three-bottle gift boxes. Each one is beautifully presented in a kraft gift box, lined with black tissue paper, and includes a hand-signed note card from Jason.

*There was a label design change from the 2013 vintage. The 2010 Vintage is labelled with the previous design as shown in the first image
